The birth of buddhism
Four Noble truths below, One of Buddha's most important doctrines ever. Shows that life requires suffering and that there is a cause to the suffering. This also leads to the Eightfold Path which leads to how to end the suffering of a human and following this will eventually get you closer to nirvana
Popularity of Buddhism growsOne of the reasons for the popularity was language. Instead of using Sanskrit. They used the vernacular tongues that reached a much popular audience. Another reason for the popularity was the organization of the movement which made the popularity skyrocket. The popularity also increased when they got Ashokas support from the Maryann dynasty. He was the emperor and strongly promoted Buddhism since he was a Buddhist himself. Another reason is women get a bigger role in society because they were treated equal. The effect of all this happening is why it is still a huge religion today.

As Buddhism developed , there came individuals who were bodhisattvas. People who already reached spiritual perfection but delayed their entry into nirvana to help people who were struggling to enter nirvana. Then there came Mahayana Buddhism which appealed to merchants, artisans etc. This branch of Buddhism appealed to people due to the concern for ethical behavior. This type of Buddhism flourished and attracted many classes. Mahayana Buddhism mainly flourished because of the educational institutions that promoted faith. There was also another type off Buddhism known as Theravada Buddhism which was stricter and not as popular but still retained a dominant school in Ceylon and later spread to other parts of South Asia
